Rivers mum on Allen's decision to go to Miami

ORLANDO, Fla.For five-plus years, Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers had no hesitation when questions were fired his way about Ray Allen.

But among the many changes resulting from Allen's decision to leave Boston -- at least right now -- is Rivers' reluctance to talk about his former player.

Rivers, who lives in Orlando during the offseason, was in attendance at Boston's 93-79 summer league loss to Detroit and was asked about Allen again.

"Im not talking about Ray right now," Rivers said. "Hes no longer part of us. Thats my take, really. We talked about a lot of stuff, but really, Im talking about our guys.

Allen indicated just 24 hours ago that there were a number of issues he weighed prior to making a decision. His role with the team moving forward, a strained relationship with Rajon Rondo, and an overall sense that he wasn't a priority for the Celtics, were just some of the issues Allen had to come to grips with.

"In the free agency period, I'm looking at Miami and they are so excited for me to come here and have an opportunity," Allen said at his introductory press conference on Wednesday. "And I didn't get that same kind of excitement coming from the (Boston) side of the equation."

Just about every time Rivers has been out in public since the Celtics' season ended in seven games last month in Miami, he had been asked about Allen's future. Now that Allen has made his choice, it's clear Rivers doesn't see much value in dwelling on it.
