Jason Terry made his desire to win an NBA championship very clear when he inked a tattoo of the Larry OBrien trophy on his bicepbefore the Dallas Mavericks won the 2011 title.

Now the free agent guard hopes to repeat the performance with the Boston Celtics.

CSNNE.com's A. Sherrod Blakely confirmed the Yahoo! Sports report that the Celtics and Terry have reached an agreement on a three-year contract starting at the mid-level exception worth more than 15 million.

Terry, 34, spoke to FOX Sports Florida about his positive impressions of the Celtics.

"I just love that they have a championship pedigree,'' Terry said. "And I think their point guard (Rajon Rondo) is the best in the business at controlling both ends of the floor, and they've got Hall of Famers.''

Terry averaged 15.1 points, 3.6 assists, and 2.4 rebounds in 31.7 minutes per game last season off the Mavericks bench. The 2009 Sixth Man of the Year is entering his 14th year in the NBA, playing five years with the Atlanta Hawks and the last eight with the Mavs.

Free agent signings can begin on July 11.
