BOSTONThe Boston Celtics have reeled off five straight wins, and Paul Pierce has been instrumental in that success.

For his work, Pierce was named the Eastern Conference player of the week for the period March 26 through April 1. In that span, the C's were 4-0 with Pierce leading the way.

It is the second time he has received the award this season.

The captain averaged 25 points, eight rebounds and 2.5 assists per game last week, which included a season-high 36 points in a 102-95 win at Charlotte.

For the Western Conference, Los Angeles Clippers guard Chris Paul received the honor. He led the Clippers to a 4-0 record during that span.

Paul, who was pursued heavily by the Celtics in the offseason, averaged 21.5 points along with 11.3 assists per game while shooting an impressive 56 percent from the field.
