Although Leandro Barbosa didn't know Fab Melo personally when he signed with the Boston Celtics last week, he had no hesitation offering up his mentorship to the rookie.
Both Barbosa and Melo are natives of Brazil. They shared an unspoken understanding they would help one another before even meeting.
On Thursday Barbosa tweeted a photo of himself and Melo, noting the significance of playing for the same team:
Melo believes having a pair of Brazilian players on the Celtics will add an extra element to the team.
"We're going to bring a lot of personality to the locker room and try to bring our energy to the court," he told CSNNE.com. "We're guys who play with a lot of passion and I'm sure we can bring that to the game."
Barbosa and Melo are two of five players from Brazil currently in the NBA.
