Lewis joins friend Allen, signs with Heat

For years, Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis were asked about their days as teammates on the Seattle SuperSonics whenever Lewis came to Boston to play against the Celtics.

Those days are over. Lewis will join Allen on the Miami Heat next season, according to multiple outlets. Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports reported Lewis will sign a two-year contract starting at the veteran minimum. Allen agreed to a multi-year deal with the reigning NBA champions last week.

Allen and Lewis played together on the SuperSonics for nearly five seasons before both left the team in the summer of 2007. Allen was traded to the Celtics while Lewis inked a blockbuster deal with the Orlando Magic. The longtime friends squared off in the 2009 Eastern Conference Semifinals and 2010 Eastern Conference Finals.

The two signings will be a family reunion as well. Their mothers, Flo Allen-Hopson and Juanita Brown, are also close friends as are both families.
