Lacerte wins NBA's Athletic Trainer of the Year honor

Boston Celtics trainer Ed Lacerte has been named the Joe O'Toole Athletic Trainer of the Year by the NBA. This award is given out annually to the trainer that has demonstrated exceptional achievement or that has committed tremendous service to the league.

This is not the first time Lacerte has earned the honor. He also won in 1992-93).

The award is named after Joe O'Toole who is known as the "father" of the National Basketball Athletic Trainer Assocation. O'Toole was a long time trainer of the Atlanta Hawks.

"Ive known Eddie for 25 years," Danny Ainge said in a statement."He is the hardest working athletic trainer and most experienced in the league.We are lucky to have him caring for our players.

Lacerte has overseen Celtics injuries for nearly three decades. The completion of this Celtics season was Lacerte's 25th as the trainer, making him the longest-serving athletic trainer in Celtics history.
