Ilyasova ‘sorry' for injuring Green

BOSTON -- Ersan Ilyasova didn't mean to injure Jeff Green.

The two got tangled up fighting for a rebound with less than 30 seconds to go in overtime during the Milwaukee Bucks win over the Boston Celtics and Ilyasova elbowed Green in the face in the battle for the ball. Green staggered to the ground before leaving the game with a bruised left cheek and chipped teeth.

"I tipped the ball and I tried to get it," Ilyasova told CSNNE.com. "I felt I hit him with my elbow when I was just jumping down, his face was kind of looking up."

As Green received medical attention on the parquet, Ilyasova walked over to him and expressed his apologies.

"I told him I'm sorry," said Ilyasova. "I don't know if he heard me or not."

Ilyasova is no stranger to in-game injuries himself.

"My nose has been broken like six times," he said.

Green is listed as day-to-day.
