Garnett named East's Player of the Week

NEW YORKIt has been a good week for Kevin Garnett.

The Boston Celtics continue to rack up the wins, he got a night off last night, and now this: the Eastern Conference's Player of the Week award.

Garnett was recognized for his strong play in games from April 9 to April 15.

The C's went 4-1 during that span and 3-1 with Garnett in the lineup.

C's coach Doc Rivers gave Garnett the night off in Boston's 94-82 win at Charlotte on Sunday.

In the four games Garnett played, he averaged 20 points, 10.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.3 steals and one block per game. Within the four games, he registered double-doubles three times.

The league also announced that Los Angeles Lakers center Andrew Bynum was the player of the week in the Western Conference.
