Garnett fails to grab a board for first time since '97

BOSTON -- January 21, 1997.

It has been nearly 16 years since Kevin Garnett went without a rebound in an NBA game. On Saturday night, he finished the Boston Celtics 92-79 win over the Philadelphia 76ers without a board.

At least according to the box score.

"You know what, I'm looking for the statistician around here and when I find out what he looks like, we're going to have some problems," Garnett said jokingly. "I had a rebound in the first quarter. That's expletive, man. No, that's expletive expletive. That's what I'm going to say. I had a rebound in the first half, thank you. I think that's an error. We're going to fix that, alright?"

When told of the date he last recorded a zero in the rebound category, he replied, "Blow the dust off that. Are you serious? That's an error. I got a rebound. They're going to go back and fix that."

Regardless of whether Garnett had one rebound or none, his teammates carried the load on the glass. Rajon Rondo and Jared Sullinger grabbed nine boards apiece.

"I thought Rondo's been in this little mode where he's getting all triple-doubles and he's hogging all the rebounds," Garnett said in jest. "Doc told me tonight since I didn't shoot the last shot last night (in the Celtics overtime loss to the 76ers) to shoot tonight so I was more focused on that. All jokes aside, I thought we did a real good job just being firm. I thought we were aggressive tonight.

"When we're like that and playing with an edge and a chip on our shoulder, it's hard to beat us."
