Garnett: ‘We have to protect each other, we consider ourselves family'

BOSTON -- Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo have developed a big brother - little brother bond over the past five years on the Boston Celtics.
Garnett joined the Celtics following Rondo's rookie season and the younger point guard has grown up as an NBA player with his veteran big man by his side. They have become a tandem on the court and very close friends away from the game.
When Rondo saw Garnett pushed to the ground by Kris Humphries on Wednesday night, he instantly fought back.
"We all back each other up," Garnett said following the Celtics 95-83 loss to the Brooklyn Nets.
Rondo was ejected for his role in the altercation (Humphries and Gerald Wallace were ejected, too). Now Rondo is facing the possibility of a suspension by the NBA, which could leave the Celtics without their floor general.
"It it what it is, man," said Garnett. "Obviously we are worried, but it is what it is. We have to protect each other and we consider ourselves family around here. That's just the way it is."
