Garnett: I don't deserve to be All-Star starter

BOSTONThere are some basketball pundits - specifically Charles Barkley and former Celtic Shaquille O'Neal - who does not believe Boston Celtics big man Kevin Garnett should be a starter in next month's all-star game.

You know what?

KG agrees with him.

"I think you have other guys, Joakim Noah, Tyson Chandler, everybody else who is up and coming, younger guys that can easily be in my poisition and had the opportunity to start," Garnett said. "But that wasn't the case here."

Garnett finished third in the fan voting among Eastern Conference forwards, with the top three being named all-star starters.

Celtics coach Doc Rivers refused to comment on Barkley and O'Neal's comments regarding Garnett other than to say, "KG's on it, right? That's all that counts. A lot of people disagree with them."

Although Garnett has been a part of all-star weekend plenty of times, each opportunity is even more special as he gets closer to the end of his career.

"At this stage of my career, I'm fortunate to even be out here giving something to it," Garnett said. "14 (all-star appearances), being able to still be healthy and play the game I love."
