Doc on Allen's return: ‘We're hoping for Friday'

BOSTONRay Allen's ankle injury is making progress, evident by him participating in the Boston Celtic's morning shoot-around and later, proceed with his pre-game routine.

But the ankle isn't well enough for him to return to action, with Allen sitting out for the fourth straight game, and ninth this season.

"He went through shoot-around and just didn't feel right," said C's coach Doc Rivers. "We're hoping for Friday."

Despite this being the longest stretch of consecutive games missed by Allen this season, Rivers isn't overly concerned about Allen's injury.

"It's no reason for me to worry about an injury," Rivers said. "We've had a lot of them this year. He'll be fine, I think. We just hope it doesn't become one of those things that lingers where he plays a couple games, and then have to sit out a couple. But I don't see that happening."

Avery Bradley will once again get the starting nod for Allen.

You won't hear a single Celtic say they're a better team without Allen, but they have managed to play some impressive basketball in his absence with a 7-1 record.
