The Boston Celtics offseason carousel was in effect on Thursday with the pending arrival and departure of players.
As reported by CSNNE.com earlier, the C's have agreed to a one-year deal with Darko Milicic for the veteran's minimum.
On Thursday evening, the Celtics announced that Keyon Dooling was being waived.
All indications are that the 12-year veteran plans to retire.
Keyon has decided that he has given the NBA 12 good years and that its time to pursue other interests and spend more time with his family, Dooling's agent, Kenge Stevenson, said in a statement. He will never forget his time in Boston with the Celtics.
Dooling came to Boston via trade from Milwaukee prior to the start of last season.
He appeared in 46 regular-season games, averaging 4.0 points, 1.1 assists and 0.3 steals per game. While his role was still somewhat limited in the postseason, he connected on 39.3 percent of his 3-pointers which was tops among Celtics players.
Although injuries limited his play on the floor, there was no mistaking his impact inside the locker room.
Young and old, guards and big men, they all seemed to gravitate towards the gregarious 6-foot-3 guard who had no problem doling out his wisdom acquired over more than a decade in the NBA, on anyone willing to listen.
Well miss Keyons spirit and energy, both on and off the court, said President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge. The whole Celtics family wishes him well as he enters the next phase of his life.
