Celtics react to news of Dooling's retirement

Players around the NBA were surprised to learn the news of Keyon Doolings retirement following a 12-year career in the league. (The Boston Celtics waived the 32-year-old guard on Thursday). Even though he played only one season with the Celtics, Dooling made a strong impact on his teammates, including those who played less than a full season with the Cs.

Jeff Green underwent season-ending heart surgery in January and never suited up for the Celtics last season. Nonetheless, he got to know Dooling during the time he spent around the team at games and practices.

Keyon was a great leader and veteran, Green told CSNNE.com. I will truly miss him and Im glad I had the opportunity to meet him and get to know him before his retirement.

Ryan Hollins signed with the Celtics as a free agent in late March. Although the center and guard played different positions and sat on opposite sides of the locker room, the two developed a bond in a few short months.

Keyon is one of the most intense and genuine teammate Ive ever had, said Hollins, who signed with the Los Angeles Clippers this summer. He will be missed.

Dooling also played for the Clippers, Miami Heat, Orlando Magic, New Jersey Nets, and Milwaukee Bucks during his career.
