Celtics Camp: Day 1 in Istanbul

The Celtics safely touched down in Turkey, and Doc Rivers didn't waste any time going from the plane to the basketball court.

Rivers held practice on Monday, electing not to allow the team to head straight to bed in the middle of the day in Turkey.

"Great move by Doc", Brian Scalabrine said.

Scalabrine was with the team in Rome five season ago, and knows what the C's should look to do.

"Building better team unity going into things," he said.

But it's not all positives, as you can already guess one negative -- tired bodies. The other would be that for the non-guaranteed guys, it's even more of an uphill battle to make the team.

"If you're one of the guys who is kind of a dark horse of sorts on this training camp roster it's a little harder even now to try to wow those guys because Doc and his focus is really on trying to get this team ready," Celtics Insider A. Sherrod Blakely said.

Blakely will be covering the C's all week in Europe, and will especially have his eyes on the shooting guard position.

"Obviously Courtney Lee is going to be the starter and Jason Terry is going to come off the bench, but still, that's a position the Celtics have really solidified," Blakely said. "You just want to know whether those guys can stay healthy for the whole season because that's always an issue with every team but certainly with this team particularly with Avery Bradley being out."
