Blakely: Christmas has ‘inside track' on roster spot

The preseason doesn't mean much to a lot of people, but for the handful of Celtics trying to earn one of the final roster spots, it means everything.

So far, it appears that guard Dionte Christmas has the heads up on the rest of the unguaranteed field, according to Celtics Insider A. Sherrod Blakely.

"The guy that has jumped out, really, is Dionte ChristmasHis versatility has really set him apart. He has the ability to score at this level. He's proven to be a decent defender and he's learning to be more of a facilitator, something we did not see much of when he came out of Temple University."

Christmas is competing with other players like C's second round pick Kris Joseph, and undrfafted players Jamar Smith, Micah Downs, and Rob Kurz.

But according to Blakely, Christmas has a partial guarantee, which in his case means that he'll make more than 200,000 from the team whether or not he makes it. That will certainly play a part in the C's decision.
