In this edition of Beyond the Arc, CSNNE.com's Jessica Camerato talks to Celtics first round draft pick Fab Melo, who discusses his transition to the NBA.

Melo, now a 7-foot center, was a soccer player growing up in Brazil. He said the transition from soccer to basketball was difficult at first.

"The first thing I did with the basketball was try to kick it," he said.

A bigger transition was coming from Brazil and living in the United States.

"I didn't speak English at all," Melo said. "It was tough, but a good experience."

Melo said he knows his game is still a work in progress and he's excited about getting tips from Celtics veterans such as Kevin Garnett.

"I've still got a long way to go," Melo said, "but I'm patient."

And he said he's excited about having KG as a tutor: "I'm looking forward to learning from him," Melo said. "It's going to be a great thing."
