Barbosa could play for Celtics Sunday

ALBANY, NYLeandro Barbosa has yet to see or even practice with his new Boston Celtics teammates.

But that still might not keep him from seeing some action in Boston's final preseason game on Sunday against Philadelphia.

"You have to go through so many physical (related) stuff," said C's coach Doc Rivers. "So if he finishes yeah, he'll play."

Even if that doesn't pan out, Rivers isn't worried.

Following Sunday's preseason game against Philadelphia, the Celtics' regular season doesn't kick off until nine days later against Miami - plenty of time to get Barbosa up to speed.

"He gets to have a training camp, which is good for him," Rivers said.

Barbosa, 29, agreed to a one-year deal for the veteran's minimum.

A 6-4 combo guard, he will be looked upon to provide an additional ball-handler for the Celtics who are down a player with Avery Bradley (shoulders) not expected back on the floor until the middle of December.

He will wear jersey No. 12 for the C's, which was last worn by JaJuan Johnson who was part of the Celtics trade this summer that netted Courtney Lee.
