Antoine Walker announces retirement

Former Boston Celtic Antoine Walker announced his retirement from basketball on Saturday night in the Idaho Stampede locker room following their win against the Bakersfield Jam, according to a team statement.

The 35 year old is expected to make a formal retirement announcement in the coming days. Marc Spears from Yahoo! Sports first reported Walker's retirement.

Walker, a 12-year NBA veteran, joined the Stampede (NBA Development League) last season
and played 87 games for the team. He entered Saturday's game averaging 9.5 points, 4.9
rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game and scored six points (2-8 FG, 0-3 3PG) and four rebounds
in 20 minutes in the win.

The Celtics selected Walker with the sixth overall pick in the 1996 NBA Draft. He played over
seven seasons with the Cs and also suited up for the Dallas Mavericks, Atlanta Hawks, Miami
Heat, and Minnesota Timberwolves during his time in the league.

In addition to being known for his shimmy, Walker also became known for his bankruptcy troubles off the court.
