Wakefield to tutor knuckler Wright

The latest Red Sox spring training notes include the return of Tim Wakefield. No, he won't be back in uniform, but rather serving as tutor to 28-year-old knuckleballer Steven Wright.

Wake is expected to be in Florida next week to work with Wright. Many in the Red Sox front office believe Wright could impact the team this season.

Also in the notes, David Ortiz continues his rehab and proclaims himself at about 90 health. Ortiz is not expected to participate in the early slate of Grapefruit League action.

And finally, Ben Cherington has said his preference is to break camp with 12 pitchers and not 13. In the past, the Sox have taken 13 pitchers out of necessity, not out of preference.
