Two Sox players: Good offseason moves, but pitching needs to improve

Comcast SportsNet's Mike Giardi spoke to a pair of Red Sox players today who applauded the team's offseason moves, said there's reason to be excited about the coming season, but also warned that the pitching needed to improve.

Giardi recounted the conversations with the players -- who requested anonymity -- on Twitter. The series of Tweets:

3:42 P.M. -- Spoke to pair of Sox players today. Both agree there is reason to be excited about upcoming season, but also cautious.

3:43 P.M. -- 1 player told me "we keep hearing about a culture change from you guys (media), but what we really need is a change in pitching performance."

3:44 P.M. -- Player X continued, "culture ain't (sic) gonna make our pitchers paint the corners, or go 7 innings every start."

3:46 P.M. -- Player Y on offseason acquisitions. Victorino, Dempster, Gomes, Uehara & Napoli (assuming gets done) are "gamers. We needed more"

3:47 P.M. -- Player Y also notes that new skipper John Farrell "needs to hold players accountable. There hasn't been enough for too long."

3:51 P.M. -- Lastly, Player X says "you tell everybody, the fans, my teammates, I'll bring it. I'm ready. Guys better be as well."
