BOSTONOutfielder Ryan Sweeney said hes feeling much better and has passed his last concussion test and hopes to play tomorrow.
They told me I could go about all my stuff normal today and hopefully play tomorrow, Sweeney said before Sundays series finale with the Rays.
Sweeney has been on the 7-day concussion disabled list since making a diving catch in Philadelphia on May 20. He said hes never had a concussion or head injury before. In fact, the play on which he was concussed (along with suffering a strained his neck), he considers almost routine to him.
Ive dove for hundreds of balls, he said. But it just kind of depends on how your head hits and your head hits back and your brain hits inside your head, I guess. So I guess mine just hit weird that time.
He underwent two concussion tests after a baseline test given to all players in spring training.
Theres one written one that someone reads to you and its all kind of memorization and how quick you can respond to stuff and then theres a computer test, too, thats kind of long that you have to different reaction stuff and memorize words and shapes and a bunch of different stuff, he said.
After passing those, as long as he has no symptoms after baseball activities today, he should be activated tomorrow.

Today, he will hit, run, throw, field, all baseball activities to get ready to see if hes going to be activated for tomorrow, said manager Bobby Valentine.
Valentine said those activities are considered equally important, with none holding more weight than the others.
He had a more than 15-minute cardio test, all that stuff and he felt good yesterday, Valentine said.
