Ryan Kalish will join the Red Sox on Sunday as Ryan Sweeney heads to the disabled list, according to a report.
The Boston Globe reports that Sweeney will go to the 15-day disabled list to make room for Kalish. Sweeney spent time on the 7-day DL earlier this season with a concussion.
Kalish has been on fire in his nine games with the PawSox since returning from a shoulder injury. He's hit .378 with four home runs and a .477 OBP in that time. He's played just 15 games in the minors this season before getting the call to the big league club.
Kalish hasn't been healthy in over a year since he injured his shoulder making a diving catch at McCoy Stadium. He had surgery to repair a bulging disc in his neck in September. He had another procedure on his labrum in November and began this season rehabbing in Fort Myers, Fla.
More to come . . .
