The Red Sox are planning to call up right-handers Pedro Beato and Zach Stewart and infielder Danny Valencia on Friday. All three have already made appearances for the major league team this season. Beato, who was acquired from the Mets in August for catcher Kelly Shoppach, appeared in one game, pitching two innings to earn the win against the Royals on Aug. 26. Stewart, acquired in June for third baseman Kevin Youkilis, made one start, taking the loss Aug. 29 in Anaheim, going three innings, giving up nine runs. Valencia, acquired from the Twins in August, appeared in four games, playing third base.

Left-hander Drake Britton, right-hander Stolmy Pimentel, and outfielder Che-Hsuan Lin are the only remaining players on the 40-man who have not been called up in September. Britton and Pimentel did not pitch above Double-A this season. Lin appeared in seven games for the Sox earlier this season, most recently on Aug. 25. Combined, he went 1-for-6, playing right field and center field.
