Red Sox interested in Mike Napoli

The Red Sox are in the market for a first baseman, and they appear to be zoned in on one in particular.

Mike Napoli was not given a qualifying offer by the Rangers, and is therefore a free agent.

Last year was a bit of a down year, as Napoli hit just .227. But in 19 games at Fenway Park, Napoli is a .306 hitter with seven home runs and 17 RBI. He's also got an OPS of 1.106

Sean McAdam was on SportsNet Central to talk about the Sox interest.

"I think they're quite serious and I think they have been since the end of the season where he was a guy that they had targeted as someone who could come in and play first base and perhaps catch someHe has that right handed pull power swing and an OPS of more than 1.000 in his career appearances here in Fenway so it seems like a very good fit indeed and as I said no surprise that the Red Sox are very curious about him."
