BOSTON -- For much of the season, it felt like one of the worst seasons in Fenway Park history. Turns out it was.The Red Sox dropped their home finale Wednesday night, 4-2 to the Tampa Bay Rays and finished the home half of the season with a 34-47 record, a .420 winning percentage, tying them with the 1965 club which finished with the same mark.Jon Lester held the Rays hitless through 4 13 innings, but then lost not only the no-hit bid, but his shutout, too, in the span of a few hitters.After Jeff Keppinger singled, Carlos Pena, who homered Tuesday night, belted a two-run shot. Ben Francisco then followed with a solo shot.The Sox had taken a 1-0 lead in the second on a run-scoring single by Daniel Nava. They closed the gap to 3-2 in the sixth when Dustin Pedroia walked, stole second, took third on a single by Cody Ross and scored on a sacrifice fly by James Loney.But just as quickly, the Rays restored their two-run lead off the Red Sox bullpen with Jose Lobaton delivering a run on a ground-rule double.The loss was Lester's 14th of the season. He's winless over his last four outings. Meanwhile, the Sox mustered just four hits off Tampa pitching.
