Hopefully Sandy Rosario didn't get too far in his packing for Oakland.
GM Ben Cherington announced today that the Red Sox have claimed Rosario off waivers from the Oakland Athletics.
Rosario, who was acquired by Oakland from Boston in exchange for a player to be named later (RHP Graham Godfrey), was designated for assignment two days later by the Athletics on November 30.
Rosario was originally claimed by Boston off waivers from the Miami Marlins on October 17.

The right-hander posted a 1.04 ERA (3 ER26.0 IP) with 16 saves and 24 strikeouts over 25 appearances for Miamis Triple-A club in New Orleans in 2012, all in relief. In addition, he made six outings between High-A Jupiter and Double-A Jacksonville last season, including four on rehab. Rosario also appeared in four Major League games with Miami in 2012, allowing six runs over 3.0 innings. This offseason, he has appeared in 12 games for Gigantes del Cibao in the Dominican Winter League.
Originally signed as an international free agent in 2004, Rosario has compiled a 30-18 record with 47 saves, a 3.15 ERA (137 ER391.0 IP) and 403 strikeouts over 181 career minor league outings in the Marlins system, including 35 starts. He has pitched in 10 big league games over the last three seasons for the Marlins, yielding 13 runs in 7.2 innings.
The Red Sox 40-man roster is now at 39.
