CLEVELAND -- Bobby Valentine said after Saturday night's 6-2 loss to the Indians that he had nothing new to report on David Ortiz's status, and the veteran designated hitter is still doubtful for Sundays series finale against the Indians.

Ortiz was originally supposed to take batting practice and run the field as a test for his troublesome right Achilles tendon.

Adrian Gonzalez has hit safely in 10 of his last 11 games while going 17-for-42 (.405) with 7 doubles, 2 homers, 14 RBI and 7 runs. Gonzalez has 31 RBI since the All-Star break, which leads the American League over that span and ranks second only to San Francisco's Buster Posey (32) in the majors.

Andrew Bailey is slated to make a rehab appearance for Triple-A Pawtucket on Sunday, and could be nearing activation for the Red Sox if he continues is encouraging recovery path from thumb surgery.

The start of Saturday nights game was delayed 18 minutes due to Indians Hall of Fame ceremonies that ran over their allotted time period. Major League Baseball Hall of Famer Gaylord Perry, late outfielder Jack Graney, and trainer Jim Warfield were all inducted into the Indians hallowed Hall.

Danny Valencia, who replaced the injured Will Middlebrooks on the roster, arrived a few minutes before Saturdays game began and he got into some action at third base in the last few innings in his Sox debut. Valencia was given uniform No. 23.
