David Ortiz returned to the lineup on Friday after missing 35 games with a sore achilles. He recorded two hits and two RBI, looking as if he never missed a beat.
But on Saturday, all was not well for the jovial slugger. Ortiz was out of the lineup with soreness in the same area, leading to speculation that he could be shut down for the remainder of the season.
For a Red Sox team that just traded Adrian Gonzalez, losing Ortiz within 24 hours would be a major setback in what has already been a season full of disappointment.
