Ortiz hopes to be ready for Spring Training

David Ortiz's commitment to the Red Sox was called into question by Bobby V after he sat out the remainder of the season with an Achilles injury.    

Ortiz's injury was on topic once again as Spring Training draws closer and closer.  The Red Sox designated hitter revealed that he has not been working out at the same rate as he normally would at this point of the offseason.

At this point, not yet, Ortiz said Very soon.

When asked if he would be ready for Spring Training, Ortiz replied

I hope so. Hopefully,

The 37-year-old still expects to play for the Dominican Republic in this year's World Baseball Classic.

Ortiz hit .318 with 23 home runs and 60 RBI in 90 games for the Red Sox last season.
