Merloni: Get rid of every Red Sox coach

"The Baseball Show" panel debates how the Red Sox are going to improve. One of Lou Merloni's solutions, "Clear out and dump every single coach on this team, including the manager."

Responds CSNNE.com Red Sox insider Sean McAdam, "They may be running for the exits before you tell them to."

Merloni says a fresh start is needed next season.

"So that when these guys show up at spring training, nobody knows anyone on the team and there are no crutches," Merloni said, referring to rumored rifts among manager Bobby Valentine's coaching staff.

"Dump and move on and get the soul back on this team," Merloni said.

Boston Globe columnist Dan Shaughnessy wonders if Red Sox fans have the patience for a few more down years.

"Player development requires the kind of patience to have these kind of years," Shaugnessy said. "We've demonstrated we don't have patience for it in this town."
