Lovullo expected to become Red Sox bench coach

BOSTON -- Now that John Farrell is the new Red Sox manager, who will make up his coaching staff?
That's the first item on Farrell's lengthy to-do list, and evidence suggests it's coming together quickly.
A baseball source said Farrell expects to have Torey Lovullo as his bench coach. Lovullo, who managed the Pawtucket Red Sox in 2010, was Farrell's first base coach in his two seasons in Toronto.
Lovullo was interviewed for the Red Sox managerial opening a year ago before the Sox hired Bobby Valentine.
Bruce Butterfield, who served as Farrell's third-base coach in Toronto, is also under consideration and would seem to be a candidate for the same job here
The Toronto coaching staff is not under contract and has been given permission to seek jobs elsewhere.
A third member of the Blue Jays coaching staff -- pitching coach Bruce Walton -- is being considered for the same position with the Sox, though he's not necessarily the favorite for the job.
One industry source said it's unlikely that any of the four candidates interviewed before Farrell was hired -- Tony Pena, DeMarlo Hale, Tim Wallach and Brad Ausmus -- will be added to Farrell's staff.
Pena, Hale and Wallach are under contract with their current teams as coaches, while Ausmus -- according to a source familiar with his thinking -- is intent on managing and will seek other opportunities elsewhere.
