Lackey returns to mound in Fort Myers, throws two shutout innings

John Lackey pitched in a game today for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery last November, and it couldn't have gone better. At least as far as results are concerned.Working an intrasquad game in Fort Myers consisting of Red Sox players in the Instructional League, Lackey pitched two shutout innings and allowed no hits and no walks with three strikeouts. He was cleared to throw as many as 35 pitches, but needed only 26.Lackey's expected to be ready when spring training begins next February.
