Kalish happy to help Sox with pinch-hit in 10th

Ryan Kalish wasn't in the starting lineup, but he played a huge role in the comeback win.

Kalish pinch-hit for Brent Lillibridge in the top of the 10th and blasted a double to right. From there, he took third on a Dustin Pedroia's single and scored on David Ortiz's sacrifice fly.

"I can't be more happy to be a part of this win," said Kalish. "Obviously, they were playing us tight and there weren't a lot of runs scored in this series. It was just huge to help out."

As a young player, Kalish doesn't have a lot of pinch-hitting experience, but he likes the challenge those situations present.

"I don't really mind it," he said. "It's just another (situation) where you can show your value, your use. You go up there and just try to have something happen. You just keep it light. There's pressure, but then again, there's really none because you haven't been in the game the whole time. You're just up there trying to put a good swing on something.

"I kind of find it fun."

Matched against Brandon League, Kalish was trying to "stay aggressive, see a good pitch early -- because they're trying to get ahead. They're going to put something over the plate and I was just ready for it."
