PORTSMOUTH, R.I.You can add Boston Celtics Hall of Famer John Havlicek to the long list of sports legends mourning the death of Red Sox great Johnny Pesky.

"He's in a different sport, but I saw him at golf tournaments and different outings, that kind of thing," Havlicek told CSNNE.com at the Jeffrey Osborne Charity golf outing at Carnegie Abbey Club in Portsmouth, R.I. "How many people can say they were a player, manager, scout, first base coach, third base coachhe did it all. The memories that he gave everyone, the Pesky Pole and that type of thing, are things that will carry on forever. He won't be forgotten."

And it's not just local legends who are reminiscing about the over-arching impact Pesky had on so many.

Hall of Fame second baseman Joe Morgan recalls his days as a minor leaguer when he first crossed paths with Pesky.

"I got a chance to see him in an instructional league," said Morgan, who now hosts an all-sports talk radio show, "The Joe Morgan show," on Sports USA. "I didn't know who he was at the time, but over the years we had a lot of conversations and he helped me along the way. Last time I saw him, he was at a game and I was broadcasting. It was great to see him."

Like most who are asked about Pesky, his likability shines brightly.

"Sometimes we use that word and say, 'he's a nice guy.' But he was genuinely a nice guy," Morgan said. "I don't know if you could find anyone who disliked him. That's what's important."
