MIAMI -- Rich Hill, who was placed on the disabled list Sunday because of a sore left elbow, was examined Monday and diagnosed with a strained flexor muscle.
"He felt a little stiffness,'' said manager Bobby Valentine. "But it's not in the ligament (repaired during Tommy John surgery last June), luckily.''
Still, this will sideline Hill for a period of time.
"I bet it's more than a couple of weeks,'' said Valentine. ''I bet it's a month or more.''
