Don't look for Sox to land Greinke in free agency

Zack Greinke, recently acquired by the Angels from the Brewers, will likely be the top free agent pitcher available in the offseason, but the Red Sox probably won't get him, says CSNNE.com's Sean McAdam.

McAdam tells his fellow "Baseball Show" panelists that Greinke is the best of a pitching-thin free agency class this winter but he'll command the kind of contract that the Red Sox will probably shy away from.

"He's a longshot to come to Boston," McAdam says. "He wants more than 20 million a year and more than five years."

Angels general manager Jerry DiPoto has said that he would like Greinke to be more than just a rental for his team and they would try and sign him to a long-term deal.

"There will be a healthy market for him," says McAdam, "because he's pretty much all that's out there.
