BOSTONAn investigation found Wednesday that a Leominster police officer did in fact hurl a racial slur at Carl Crawford during a rehab game in Manchester, NH, while playing for Double-A Portland. Officer John Perrault was put on paid leave with a disciplinary hearing scheduled for next week.
I really dont want to comment on that, Crawford said. Like I said earlier, I really just want to put that stuff behind me and move forward.
It surprised me he was a police officer. Disappointed and all that kind of stuff. Like I said I just want to put that behind me and not worry about that anymore.
Asked if he was glad the perpetrator was found and the investigation found him guilty, Crawford replied:
I really dont know how I feel about that. Like I said, just disappointed that it had to happen and to come out and find it was a police officer. Just one of those things you got to let go.
Youd think we as a nation had gone past that kind of stuff. So its one of those things hopefully thats the last time something like that has to happen.
