CHICAGO -- If only the Red Sox could play teams from the American League Central every day.

The Sox continued their successful road trip through the Midwest with their fifth straight victory Friday night, a 10-3 bashing of the Chicago White Sox to bring them to within a game of .500 (9-10) for the season.

The five-game win streak is the team's best on the road since June 7-12 of last season when they won six in a row away from home against New York and Toronto.

On this trip, the Sox have scored 44 runs in five games and have yet to score fewer than six runs in any of the games.

Daniel Bard, in his best outing yet as a starter, went seven innings and allowed only two earned runs on six hits while striking out seven and walking just one.

Darnell McDonald keyed a five-run fifth with a bases-loaded double and later added a solo homer in the ninth for a career-high four RBI.

David Ortiz also homered and Cody Ross added two run-scoring singles.
