ST. LOUIS -- Catcher Jarrod Satalamacchia was hitless in three at-bats in Game 2, and also had some difficulty behind the plate, dropping the transfer as the Cardinals executed a double steal in the seventh, and mishandling a throw from outfielder Jonny Gomes on a play at the plate.

Given the fact that David Ross is the superior catcher and had a hit in his Game 1 start paired with Jon Lester, manager John Farrell said it was possible that Ross could get some more starts beyond Game 5, when he would again catch Lester.

"Yes, that's been thought of," said Farrell, "and yet out of consistency, with what we've done with Salty, I outlined some things at the start of the last two series, this one included, and we're staying consistent with.

"But we also know that we've got five games remaining this year and if there needs to be a change, or there's a view that a change should be made, you know what? All things will be considered. We need to get Salty going and David Ross has been swinging the bat pretty darned good."
