Dan Shaughnessy of the Boston Globe joins "Uno Sports Tonight" and explains how important it is for the Sox to clinch the best record in the A.L.

An Oakland loss on Wednesday afternoon dropped the A's further back of the Red Sox in the race for the league's best record.

Is it really that important? Shaughnessy was asked.

"This is huge," was his reply. "People aren't really getting this. It's not about home field advantage. It's about having the best record so that you get the wild card team in the first round and everything is a layup to get to the next round."

Tampa Bay, Cleveland or Texas will likely burn their best pitcher to get to the one-game playoff and use a good pitcher in the playoff game.

"If you don't get that [best record], you go and play the Tigers," in a five-game series, Shaughnessy pointed out.

"This is like the Patriots getting the first-round bye and playing a tomato can like Houston or Denver with Tim Tebow coming in," Shaughnessy said.
