DETROIT -- So where were you when the lights went out?

The Red Sox were in the field at Comerica Park, loosening up for the bottom of the second inning. The Tigers were in their dugout, getting ready to hit.

But -- shades of last February's Super Bowl in New Orleans -- a brief power outage turned out the lights and brought proceedings to a halt. The power came back on almost immediately, but the game, tied 0-0 at the time, was delayed for 17 minutes.

Red Sox starter John Lackey retired the side in order, with two strikeouts, when play resumed.
