BOSTON -- If you don't see Jake Peavy sitting in the Red Sox dugout the night before a start, don't panic. In getting to know Peavy's routine as he joined the team this week, Red Sox manager John Farrell learned that the veteran watches the games before his start, on TV, inside the clubhouse.

It's nothing more than a personal strategy that Peavy prefers.

"Yesterday, he spent most of the game charting the game inside," said Farrell. "That's been familiar with him. Just to see hitters that he'll anticipate in the lineup tonight, and particularly the right-handers who came into the game, and how they reacted to certain pitches that might be similar to his.

"It's certainly common for him. Other guys have different types of routines."
