Carl Crawford's tenure in Boston was certainly not what anyone expected when he signed the massive deal.

According to Crawford, he was under a lot of pressure to hit a home run or go 5-5 every game.

After reading Crawford's comments on Friday, the Baseball Show panel discuss how Carl Crawford was treated during his time in Boston.

"This kid has created this thing, because the Red Sox sure as hell didn't tell him that." said Lou Merloni, "You don't sign a guy for twenty-million and say 'be someone you're not,' you sign the player for what he is.

"When he starts talking about how the media is so hard on him, and people were so hard on him, it's like a conversation he was having with himself.  Because it wasn't really the reality."

Steve Buckley feels that Carl Crawford was treated very well in his time with the Red Sox

"I've never seen a media contingent or fan base bend over backwards more to accommodate a new player than what happened with Carl Crawford." added Steve Buckley, "The only negativity, if that's what you want to call it, is that there was a widely held belief that the Red Sox overpaid.  Of course he was overpaid."
