John Farrell was asked again Tuesday at World Series media day about the impact of the Boston Marathon bombings on his team.

"We've talked many times about that event being somewhat of a galvanizing force for this team," Farrell said. "What was most impressive was the individual outreach [among players] without any public acknowlegement. Whether it be hosptial visits or leaving tickets for first repsonders."

Farrell said his team just felt a need to "pitch in" after the tragedy in April.

Catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia echoed those sentiments, saying the bombings and their aftermath, "defined everything this city is about and everything this team is about."
