BOSTON -- Whatever animosity there was between Carlton Fisk and the Red Sox is long gone . . . and the Hall of Fame catcher proved it Wednesday night.

Fisk and with long-time batterymate Luis Tiant were asked by the Sox to throw out the first pitches prior to Game 6 of the World Series. Both wore uniform jerseys bearing their old numbers -- No. 23 (which is currently worn by infielder Brandon Snyder) for Tiant, No. 27 (which has been retired by the Sox) for Fisk -- but Fisk had a little surprise once he got to the mound.

As Tiant was preparing to deliver his pitch to Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Fisk took a fake beard out of his pocket and put it on his face. In homage to the current, "Fear The Beard" Sox, he wore it as he threw the ball to Will Middlebrooks.

Truth be told, he looked more like a member of ZZ Top than Jonny Gomes or Mike Napoli. But at least you know where his heart is.
