The New England Patriots can choose to apply the franchise tag to their free agents, the most likely of whom being cornerback Aqib Talib.
Talib has suffered injuries in both seasons with the Patriots, exiting early from two AFC Championship games. It would cost the Patriots roughly $11 million to keep Talib via the franchise tag.
It cost about the same to tag receiver Julian Edelman, whose 105 receptions and 1,056 yards receiving led the Patriots in 2013.
So how about it: would you use the franchise tag if you were in charge of Patriots personnel decisions? Why?
