Abby Chin has the headlines and highlights for Sunday, May 12th, including bad news for the Red Sox bullpen as Joel Hanrahan will miss the rest of the season.
* The Red Sox have a terrible track record of bringing in top-shelf closers, only to see them land on the shelf with significant injuries.
Such was the case Saturday, when Joel Hanrahan announced that he would undergo season-ending surgery to repair a torn flexor tendon in his right forearm. The surgery will keep Hanrahan out for 6-9 months, and may end his career in Boston.
* Clay Buchholz took the hill for the Sox on Saturday as they looked to make it two in a row against the Blue Jays.
Buchholz was strong over eight innings, allowing just two earned runs, but it wasn't enough to get his team the win.
Adam Lind hit a tie-breaking homer in the ninth inning off new Sox closer Junichi Tazawa, giving the Blue Jays a 2-1 win.
* The Bruins were busy on Saturday, making preparations for Game 6 in Toronto.
The B's will need to bounce back after a lackluster showing in Game 5 at home. If the Bruins can't close out the series on Sunday, they'll need to come to Boston for a deciding Game 7 on Monday.
