The last time the Red Sox hired a new manager, it certainly didn't seem like Ben Cherington was running the show.
This time around, Dan Shaughnessy says the Red Sox have to trust their GM and give him the keys to the car.
"They have to say 'Ben we're giving you this year, and if you don't do anything we're firing you.' But they have to let him hire the manager, make his moves, be the general manager."
Cherington made a series of less-than-stellar moves this season (see Zach Stewart via the Kevin Youkilis trade), but Shaughnessy thinks the GM has to be given a fair chance to run the show.
