In the end, it doesn't matter to longtime Boston Globe columnist Dan Shaughnessy if the Patriots (or Red Sox, or Celtics, or Bruins) win or lose, he wrote in a column on Wednesday and reiterated on "Uno Sports Tonight."
Shaughnessy reminded readers and viewers that he's not in the sports media business to root for the home team.
He said lately he thought the "lines had been blurred" and he needed to remind folks that it's the best story that he's after, win or lose.
Of course, that position generates plenty of angry emails for not backing the home team, but Shaughnessy said he's used to it.
Actually, it was more favorable than I thought," Shaughnessy said. "There's more like-minded people out there than I thought."
